The music:
Not only since “Buena Vista Social Club“ people in these parts know that music is an essential part of the Cuban culture. Thus music also plays different, but always important roles for the protagonists. Ranging from classical “Boleros” and “Sons” to modern Cuban pop music or the up-to-date Latin-American “Reggaeton” (which is not yet very popular here): music has a decisive function in connecting or differentiating the individual life stories of the protagonists from one another. The music forms a directed frame for the documentary parts and is also perceptible as such.
